Home sweet home. Dalrachney Station, a High Country Merino sheep station on the Lindis Pass- A Long Story Short ...
I grew up on a High Country Merino sheep and cattle station in the Lindis Pass (2 hours north of Queenstown). At the tender age of 11, I was sent off to boarding school ... my parents seemed to think I would have a more valuable education in Christchurch compared to Omarama! (Pop. 400)
After boarding school in Christchurch, I went on to study a Bachelors degree in Visual Communication at CPIT. Immediately after my degree in 2004, I took off overseas to travel throughout Central America and the US, eventually settling into New York City to kick-start my career.
My New York experience started with an internship for Time Out Magazine, working at a bakery called
'Once Upon a Tart' and cooking for 50-80 people 3-4 times a week at The Soho Loft ... an experience which was challenging to say the least!
After a grueling 3 months, I eventually landed a graphic design position at the innovation company Fahrenheit-212 (Previously apart of Saatchi and Saatchi)
This opportunity enabled me to collaborate with world class creatives and business directors working with several Fortune 500 clients – My learning accelerated into a position where I could see beyond just the design, to understanding it's position and potential within a commercial market place. After designing and developing over 100 different concepts, from Chocolate Bars to Alcohol Bottles, Stain Remover, LCD screens and everything in between ... designing across a vast range of formats and briefs has become an intrinsic value, and possibly the most important skill I gained from working at Fahrenheit-212.
After four years in New York I was eager to work on a start-up project, and help build a brand and product from scratch. I returned home to New Zealand in 2009 to help launch the merino underwear brand; Mons Royale, alongside my own design studio which is based out of Lake Wanaka – A beautiful lakeside town, thriving with entrepeneurs, creatives and exciting new enterprise, with one of the World's greatest adventure playgrounds at it's doorstep.
It is here that I specialize in working with clients who are building new brands and products for global export.
